More restaurants willing to barter

As independent restaurants struggle to make ends meet, more owners are turning to barter, accepting services such as laundry and pest control in exchange for meals. Some are joining barter exchanges that track and organize the transactions, a move that has allowed owners such as Tony Romano of Marcello's Pasta Grill in Tempe, Ariz., to receive services without writing checks.
