Rail manufacturers promise to boost U.S. workforce with federal funds:

Some 32 companies have promised to establish rail-manufacturing operations in the U.S. if they get a slice of the federal government's $8 billion investment in high-speed rail. The list includes General Electric Co., Siemens AG and Bombardier Inc. "Our goal is to develop a national high-speed rail network, create good jobs here in America and help reinvigorate our manufacturing base," said Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood in a written statement.
