Experimental canine lymphoma vaccine could help humans

Veterinary immunologist Steve Dow and his wife, veterinary oncologist Robyn Elmslie, are testing a new vaccine on dogs with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in the hopes that it will help dogs and people. The vaccine is specific for each patient and is designed to block the immune cells that stop the immune system from destroying the cancer. Almost half of pets over the age of 10 die from cancer, according to AVMA.
