Experts: Get a grip on communications to improve efficiency

Finding new ways to get answers and information to patients can improve efficiency and patient satisfaction at practices with heavy incoming telephone call volumes, two experts write. They suggest tracking calls for a week and using tools such as scripts to give patients a consistent experience. One strategy is to turn complicated calls into office visits by asking, "Do you want to be seen?"
