FDA eyes dismissal of suit tied to delayed FSMA implementation

The FDA filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit over the delayed enactment of the Food Safety Modernization Act, arguing that it needs more time because of the complex rules being developed. The FDA has given "enormous effort and resources to developing the novel and complex regulations." Arriving at the right rules should take precedence over hitting the law's deadlines, the FDA's lawyers argued.
