Qualcomm has increased its chip sales by 27% this year to almost $13 billion, making it the third-largest IC supplier in the world, according to IHS iSuppli. The fabless semiconductor company ranked sixth last year and ninth in 2010, the market research firm noted. Meanwhile, Qualcomm has introduced the MSM8226 and MSM8626 quad-core processors, meant for 3G smartphones. Made with a 28-nanometer process, the mobile processors will be sampled by June.
