Swarovski taps AR for holiday jewelry campaign

Augmented reality technology allows mobile users to virtually try on jewelry on an application from Swarovski promoting its holiday collections. App users can share the resulting images via Instagram, which in turn enters them in a prize contest. "One of the beautiful things about using Instagram is that many active Instagram users link their Instagram account with their Facebook profile. Accordingly, the image will most likely be showcased not only to the user's Instagram followers but also to the user’s Facebook friends," said Shuli Lowy, marketing director at Ping Mobile.
