White gave way to a wider palette of colors for kitchen appliances in the 1950s. Pink, avocado and turquoise, among others, have been in and out of vogue depending on the decade. Today, a rainbow's worth of kitchen appliances are available, but stainless steel and black are favorites with consumers and designers alike.
