71,000-plus y3 of concrete placed for Pa. hydroelectric facility upgrade

PPL Corp., a utility in Pennsylvania, has completed a $440 million upgrade of its Holtwood hydroelectric facility, which allows the plant to double its generating capacity. The project employed 300 construction workers, involved the excavation of 1.3 million cubic yards of rock, and placed more than 71,000 cubic yards of concrete.
