Column: Low-cost carriers could benefit from AA-US Airways merger

Columnist Jonathan Yates says that low-cost carriers may benefit from the US Airways-American Airlines merger if airfares rise. "When prices rise too much for a good or service, demand will fall as consumers seek alternatives in air travel, that is flying on such discount carriers as JetBlue, Southwest Airlines and Spirit Airlines," Yates writes.
