Health IT use may promote savings among providers

A review in the American Journal of Managed Care revealed adoption of health IT services -- including EHRs, computerized physician order entry systems and health information exchanges -- may provide savings on administrative goods, services or personnel, with benefits mostly attained by using outpatient EHRs. However, further research is needed to back the findings, the authors noted.
