U.S. hiring picks up sharply in November

A widely watched private measure of U.S. payrolls showed a surprising surge in hiring last month, adding to indicators the Federal Reserve will take into account as it considers tapering. The 215,000 increase in jobs reported by the ADP Research Institute exceeded all expectations. "Not only is the job market healthy, but it's improving going into year-end," said Brian Jones, senior U.S. economist at Societe Generale in New York.
