U.S. private-sector hiring outstrips economists' expectations

Private employers hired 215,000 people in November, significantly more than the 170,000 that most economists had anticipated, according to payroll processor ADP. The biggest contribution came from small businesses, which took on 102,000 workers. The news is widely viewed as increasing the likelihood that the Federal Reserve will soon start scaling back its bond-buying program, created to support the economic recovery.
