Using Twitter to track spread of the flu

Ming-Hsiang Tsou, a geographer at San Diego State University, is hoping to use Twitter to track the spread of the flu virus. Tsou has computer algorithms that search the social networking site for keywords associated with the ailment. "We're looking for a correlation between the keywords and actual reported cases on flu," Tsou explained.
