Today's PE programs promote fitness for life

Lone hanging ropes and dodge ball games are being replaced by climbing walls and heart-rate monitors, as schools across the nation retool their physical education classes to encourage lifelong wellness. In Kansas City, the nonprofit organization P.E.4Life is working with gym teachers to incorporate treadmills, elliptical machines and other popular equipment in classes.
