Virginia Capitol gets $83.1 million renovation

A historic Richmond, Va., building that was the state's first permanent Capitol is receiving an $83.1 million renovation. The project has involved the painstaking removal of more than 250 pieces of steps, with each piece weighing in at about 1,400 pounds, and the replacement of deteriorated mortar joints.
