Air Force unlikely to split tanker contract, official says

Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne on Tuesday said it would be uneconomical to split a $40 billion contract for an aerial tanker between two companies. Boeing is competing for the contract against a team lead by Northrop Grumman and EADS. Wynne noted that current funding allows the government to purchase just 12 to 15 tankers each year.
