British engineers: Our energy future is rubbish

A report by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers says Britain can produce up to 20% of its electricity needs from garbage. One author says using waste -- burning it or extracting methane from its rot -- is the only way the country can meet its renewable energy target. But, notes one skeptic, burning plastic and other household waste would produce a lot of carbon dioxide.
