Carnival drops fuel surcharges for cruises

For cruises departing on or after Dec. 17, Carnival Corp. will refund the fuel supplement -- which is as much as $15 per person per day -- in the form of an onboard credit. "As the price of oil has dropped to $46 per barrel, it has now reached a level where we are able to suspend the fuel supplement," said Bill Harber, director of marketing at Carnival. However, if the price of oil rebounds, Carnival said, it may reinstate the surcharge.
