Cancun forum: Countries should adopt clear-cut energy-efficiency rules

Greenhouse-gas emissions can be reduced in a cost-efficient way by requiring more energy-efficient power plants and reduced emissions from vehicles, according to speakers at the U.N.'s climate conference in Cancun, Mexico. However, progress is hindered by confusing rules enacted by various governments, a group of corporate officials said. "Solar may be sexy but energy efficiency is the gift that keeps on giving," said Adam Muellerweiss, commercial director of energy and climate change at Dow Chemical.
