Bill would require apps to get permission to use location info

A bill before a Senate committee would require consumers to give one-time permission before smartphones, mobile applications and in-car GPS systems could collect and share location data. Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., revised the bill to exclude law enforcement. The Senate Judiciary Committee will consider the bill on Thursday.
