Government collects almost $5B under False Claims Act this year

The U.S. government says it has recovered almost $5 billion through settlements and judgments under the False Claims Act this year. The government brought in $3.2 billion under the act last year, which was a record at the time. "The False Claims Act is, quite simply, the most powerful tool that we have to deter and redress fraud," said Tony West, the acting associate attorney general.
