Kok: U.S. improves global ranking for energy-efficient buildings

The U.S. is catching up to other countries in terms of energy efficiency in buildings, said Nils Kok, professor at the University of California-Berkeley, at REITWorld 2012: NAREIT's Annual Convention for All Things REIT. Kok is also the founder of the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark. "The leaders in the U.S. actually aren't far behind the leaders in other regions, if they're not the same or better," he said. "The average performance in the U.S. is similar to Europe and Asia. Australia is still leading the pack."
