Neb. school districts are helping teachers teach math

Amid a nationwide effort to improve students' math skills, two Nebraska school districts are training their teachers to teach the subject with more innovative approaches. Part of the "Focus on Math" program -- being used in the Bennington and Gretna school districts -- requires the teachers to develop greater math skills and a deeper understanding of math concepts. The new focus on math skills will help prepare students for the workforce, said Linda Gojak, president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
