Boston-area universities are investing in science, engineering facilities

Science and engineering programs in Boston-area universities are growing, and new facilities are slated for several campuses. Two science and engineering buildings are planned at Boston University, while the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is planning a 200,000-square-foot nanomaterials lab. The University of Massachusetts Boston and University of Massachusetts Amherst also are among those with new science facilities in the works. "We think of Boston as one large campus," Northeastern University President Joseph Aoun said. "It's an ecosystem that is mutually beneficial."
