Kroger links loyalty card to charitable giving

Kroger has launched the Community Rewards program, which links a customer's loyalty card to a charity, and the company donates to that organization based on the amount spent. Charities from which to choose include national organizations, such as United Way, and local animal shelters, schools and extracurricular activities. By the end of next year, the program will have raised more than $50 million, about 20% of Kroger's annual total for charitable giving.
