The mobile wallet revolution will not reach retailers this holiday season, according to a survey of chief marketing officers and one publication's anecdotal trip through a mall. The BDO Compass Survey found 38% of CMOs are embracing mobile payments as part of their marketing strategy. "A year from now more consumers will be using their phones to make purchases. But, for now, they use them to do research, for social sites -- but not to pull the trigger on actual purchasing," BDO's Natalie Kotlyar said in an interview. A Readwrite mall-goer blamed the lack of standards, retailer apathy and competing interests for the dearth of progress.
