People with asthma are at greater risk of complications from the flu, but a CDC study showed that just 50% of asthma patients received the flu vaccine during the 2010-2011 influenza season. While the percentage of vaccinated asthmatics was higher than the 36% uptake in the 2005-2006 season, it still failed to meet the Healthy People 2020 targets of 80% coverage for children aged 6 months to 17 years and 90% for adults with asthma. The findings appear in the agency's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
