Teacher collaboration, bonuses and millions of dollars in federal grants are among the strategies and tools credited for helping Northwest Middle School in Salt Lake City make dramatic improvements in student achievement. Teachers now meet regularly in teams to discuss student data, teaching strategies and potential interventions, and can earn year-end bonuses ranging from $1,500 to $8,000 based on student achievement. "If you're going to teach here, you have to bring your 'A' game every day," principal Brian Conley said.
