Report: Texas only state to slash education funding last year

Texas, which ranks second in the nation for the size of its student population, trimmed education spending by 1% in the 2004-2005 school year from the previous year's level, reports the National Education Association. The state Legislature faces a Supreme Court order to overhaul its school funding system by June 1, 2006.
