TNS Media Intelligence: Net display ads up $1 billion

The slowing of overall U.S. ad spending may be due to the strong growth of Net ads, which continue to be the fastest-growing segment, according to data from TNS Media Intelligence: U.S. marketers, through September, spent $7.2 billion on Internet display ads, vs. $6.1 billion in the first nine months of 2005; many of those buys likely originated with "second-tier" advertisers who may have to choose between traditional and new media, said the research firm's president and CEO, Steven Fredericks.
