Opening network will pay off, Verizon COO says

A top Verizon Communications executive told investors Wednesday that plans to open its wireless network will reduce costs and bring in cash from third parties who will need Verizon's spectrum for delivering services to their customers via any number of gadgets. Chief Operating Officer Denny Strigl said those providers would keep Verizon's costs down by bearing the marketing and customer-service expenses for those services.
