BASF posts better Q4, but 2009 still considered weak, CEO says

BASF will post strong fourth-quarter results as October and November saw "pleasing" sales figures, and new orders for the company's products increased, company CEO Juergen Hambrecht said. BASF initially expected a weaker quarterly performance. Hambrecht, however, maintained that outlook for the full year will "clearly decline" compared with 2008, and that 2010 will also be difficult amid an erratic recovery.
