Florida school brings in judo program for students with special needs

A Florida elementary school is offering after-school judo instruction to students who have special needs. Sponsored by the organization that oversees the U.S. Olympic judo team, the lessons cater to students' individual needs. Students who cannot see learn through sound and touch, while students who have physical disabilities learn modified exercises. "We're teaching them discipline, respect, friendship, self-esteem -- skills that will serve them all their lives," the instructor who started the program said.
