Recession preps chemical industry for strategic shift, e-chem says

Chemical companies are identifying global market "megatrends" in renewable energy, food and water as the recession prompts the conservation of resources, International e-Chem Chairman Paul Hodges said, adding that the refocusing of strategies to those growth areas will help the companies in the long term. "Downturns of this scale are generally periods of transition," and this transition presents a lot of opportunities for the chemical industry, Hodges said.
