Report: Cement industry can cut emissions significantly

The cement industry could cut emissions 18% by 2050, according to a new report from the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the International Energy Agency. The cement industry alone accounts for about 5% of carbon emissions. Improving efficiency, using fuels other than coal to heat kilns and adopting carbon capture and storage technology will be the keys to helping the industry cut emissions, the report finds.
