Europe prepares to launch a new financial regulatory regime

Michel Barnier, internal-market commissioner for the EU, has made it clear that international markets demand strong supervision. Europe is preparing to introduce a new regulatory regime at the beginning of the year. Three agencies -- the European Securities and Markets Authority, the European Banking Authority and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority -- are the at the center of the regime.
