Do overcrowded classrooms harm student achievement?

About 14% of schools nationwide are at overcapacity, according to a study from the National Center for Education Statistics. At issue is whether class sizes affect student achievement. "I don't know that there has ever been a study that didn't show that class size doesn't matter. In every survey of parents and teachers, this is what they care the most about," said Leonie Haimson, head of advocacy group Class Size Matters.
