House panel meets to consider new data-sharing agency

Members of a House subcommittee are meeting Wednesday to discuss recently proposed legislation that would create a new federal agency tasked with bolstering cybersecurity cooperation between the public and private sectors. The so-called National Information Sharing Organization -- which would be led by an oversight board made up of federal officials, civil liberties advocates and members of the business community -- would operate under stringent guidelines that ensure consumer privacy and protect company data from public disclosure.
