MetroPCS sees sizable drop in fourth-quarter defections

MetroPCS Communications says churn has decreased significantly in the current quarter -- after a spike in subscriber turnover in the third quarter -- and cited the prepaid carrier's investments in network improvements and more smartphones. Chief Financial Officer J. Braxton Carter also told an investor conference Tuesday that he does not expect AT&T's acquisition of T-Mobile USA to win approval.
