Protesters' efforts alter board's recommendations on dangerous dogs

A North Carolina county animal control board abandoned a proposal to stop adoptions of certain breeds deemed to be aggressive and "unadoptable," such as pit bulls and rottweilers, after roughly 100 protesters attended a meeting about the proposed rule. One opponent of the ban on adopting such breeds cited a 2000 AVMA study that found that breed-specific policies were ineffective.
