Sprint sees LTE phones in latter half of 2012, starts LTE build

Sprint Nextel, which will need to produce handsets that support Long-Term Evolution technology when it weans itself off of relying entirely on WiMAX service, will release its initial LTE handset in the second half of 2012, Chief Financial Officer Joseph Euteneuer told an investor conference Monday. He added that the carrier has completed its first multimode base station, which supports both LTE and CDMA technologies.
