Calif. city council supports valet regulation

The Los Angeles City Council unanimously passed an ordinance regulating valet parking. The ordinance, the first of its kind and subject to a second vote, would ensure operators have liability insurance, a permit and proof of off-street parking. A valid California driver's license would be required for workers. The ordinance also would bar valets from blocking traffic and using public street parking unless they have permission.
