A bipartisan group of lawmakers is working to include a one-year extension of the wind-energy Production Tax Credit as part of a broader deal in Congress to avoid the "fiscal cliff." Analysts say PTC expiration would deal a crippling blow to wind energy and the the jobs that go with it. "Wind would take a hit" if the PTC were allowed to expire Dec. 31, said Michael Bernier, an analyst at Ernst & Young. An expiration "would be devastating. ... Half the jobs in the industry could be lost within a year," said Robert Gramlich, senior vice president of public policy for the American Wind Energy Association.
