Some states weigh a la carte education model

At least four states -- Arizona, Louisiana, Michigan and Utah -- are implementing or considering a new school model, referred to in this article as "a la carte school." Under the model, being pushed by a group of education reformers that includes Louisiana Superintendent of Education John White, students create custom schedules from hundreds of offerings from approved vendors. Their schedules could include online classes, learning directly from business leaders, traditional courses and other options.
