Biomedical science class includes lesson in phlebotomy

Students in a principles of biomedical science class at a high school in Iowa recently learned about phlebotomy from Joe Carmichael, a school alumni and the 2012 Iowa Phlebotomist of the Year. Carmichael used an artificial arm and real needles to show students what it's like to be a phlebotomist for a day. "We are just getting the kids interested in biomedical careers and what is out there through the curriculum," teacher Erica Malloy said.
