Lawmaker proposes bill to loosen school-nutrition rules

Legislation proposed by U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem, R-S.D., would permanently eliminate limits on grains and meats in student lunches that were set by the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act but temporarily suspended by the Agriculture Department last year. The bill, which is supported by the National School Boards Association, aims to give schools more flexibility in providing student meals.
