Opinion: University's reintroduced logo could be the year's worst

North Carolina's Appalachian State University revealed a secondary logo for its sports teams this week, a drawing of Yosef the mountaineer based on a 1970s design "that looks like a 'Simpsons' rendering of Abraham Lincoln's drunken evil twin," Carey Dunne writes. The crudely drawn logo highlights the current trend of nostalgic design but fails to justify the nostalgia, Dunne adds. App State Director of Athletics Charlie Cobb says the "Victory Yosef" logo is overwhelmingly popular among students, alumni and fans.
