Shutdown is hindering loans under SBA 7(a) program, official says

Approved loans in western New York under the Small Business Administration's 7(a) program were down to 100 and totaled $11.1 million in the past two months, data show. During the same period in the previous fiscal year, loans under the program reached 114 for a total of $23.2 million. The government shutdown in October is the reason for the drop, said Franklin Sciortino, a district director with the SBA.
