Verizon turns on 4G AWS spectrum in several U.S. cities

Verizon Wireless has leveraged Advanced Wireless Spectrum it bought from cable companies to triple its 4G network's capacity in dozens of major markets, especially those east of the Mississippi River. The Long-Term Evolution upgrade will raise the theoretical speeds of subscribers up to 80 megabits per second and ease data traffic congestion for the next several years, according to the carrier. Verizon had previously turned on the system in New York.
